We did it about 5 years ago. Lots of internet companies sell them in 100-250 ft spools (we got white and multi-colored) we hired a handyman to string them, (you nail in a clip and the lights snap in). the spools snap together if you need longer. Then we hired an electrician to install GFCI water protected outlets they plug into and three timers/photo sensors to control them. Two business pays for all the electricity which is pennies a month in Oregon. We have white/colored that alternate seasonally on roof and white on front as around trim at about 8 ft high. The most expensive part was the electrician showing up so we did it as part of another job and used a storefront grant to pay for 1/2.
