[OMS_MANAGERS] FW: Made on Main Street: Webinar Next Week!

Main Street America is partnering with One Main Financial to offer $25,000 Community Action Grants to 6 communities (1 in each of 6 states including Oregon, Washington, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, and Ohio. I sat in on the webinar this morning and here are some things I heard:

·         100% of the project can be covered by the $25,000 although city or government funding can also be part of the budget (no other corporate donors).

·         Awards will be announced on May 15 and you have 24 months to complete the project.

·         Also included is a community celebration to bring community members to celebrate the transformation project - this will take place between July and October this year and will feature local vendors, music, arts & crafts, etc. (Goldsboro NC is having their event this weekend to you could check out the web to see what they are doing). There is a One Main Financial staff member coordinating the events in partnership w/the local community.

·         You don't have to reach out to your local/regional One Main Financial branch but do include how you will invite them to be part of the project as volunteers (between 3 to 8 volunteers from the local branch)

·         Types of activities: creative wayfinding, pocket parks, parklets, façade improvement, alleyway activation, themed trails in the district, public art, mural - really open to different types of projects

·         Storytelling is key! - How project supports community interests; how you are engaging new community partners/volunteers or strengthening existing partnerships; and how the project will affect the community over the long term.

·         You can submit more than one application but don't spread yourself too thin.
