Does your Main Street offer a tour of historic buildings, sculptures, murals, or historic markers? Today your Main Street visitors rely on their smart phones to access information about your community, so offering the tour through your own mobile app saves money and also creates a b etter overall tour experience. As tour participants approach each stop, pictures, descriptions and audio narration begin automatically. The narration provides the opportunity to point out additional information based specifically on where we know the visitor is standing for that stop. Calling attention to additional features in the surroundings provides the "local color" that makes the tour experience more engaging and immersive.

One of the best things about upgrading your tour in the digital age is that you can make changes anytime you like. Found a new picture from a historic archive? Upload it, and it's immediately part of the tour. Have the surroundings changed over the past few years? Update the description and audio narration. Problem solved!
If your Main Street is already part of the distrx national network, you can create a tour right now by simply choosing "Tours" from your dashboard when you log in. You will create a welcome page for the tour and upload the pictures, text and audio files for each stop, just as you would update information in Facebook. Then create a completion screen to thank participants, solicit feedback and suggestions, and invite visitors to stick around and check out your amazing local businesses. It's that easy!
