Hi Carolyn,

City of Tigard has a matching grant program for façade and tenant improvements. 27 projects have been completed and the program has leveraged approximately $3 in private investment for every $1 in grant funding. Carolyn Johnson here with the City of Coos Bay. I'm learning much about Main street with inclusion on your list-serve, thank you!

Some background and my question - the City's fa?ade improvement program has had mixed success. The Coos Bay City Council has a FY 2019/2020 priority to "Consider possible changes to the URA fa?ade grant program; including changes to program rules, process and focus, in an effort to further incentivize redevelopment within the districts."  Could you advise with some referrals to Oregon municipalities with successful fa?ade improvement programs?  Or direct me to any index or other resources that provide an overview of fa?ade improvement programs in Oregon cities?

Hello, everyone.

We're considering a Business Plan competition here in La Grande, where the
winner(s) would get to temporarily set up shop in one of our vacant store fronts. Our goal is to fill a vacancy temporarily while the building owner courts long-term tenants, encourage a new business by lowering the barrier-to-entry for a brick and mortar store, and in general see what kinds of potential new businesses are simmering just under the surface so we can help them come to fruition.

Have any of your communities had such a contest before? And if so, how were they structured and promoted?
