[OMS_MANAGERS] Interesting Historic Preservation Article

This article buries some good points, and doesn’t seem to hit the big one. We need people to understand WHY any of these things are worth saving, and in my opinion, the word preservation really doesn’t encompass it.
I’m a so-called preservationist because I believe in sustainability, human scale, aesthetics.
But yes, financing smaller projects would be a good place to start.

Hi Katie-
Interesting article that illustrates some very practical issues as we work on revitalization of our historic downtown. I think a graded approach with more small scale financing options would help small rural communities like ours to redevelop using realistic standards and resources.
Thanks for sharing the article.

Hello All,
I saw this article on my Facebook feed this weekend and thought I would pass it on as food for thought. It is written by Patrice Frey, CEO of the National Main Street Center, and presents some challenges and possible recourse for historic preservation.
Check it out if you have a free minute (even though I know a free minute is hard to find these days!) and let me know if you have any strong opinions about the content.
