[OMS_MANAGERS] Examples of Businesses taking advantage of Events

We are trying to challenge our business owners affected by street closures
for community events to find ways to take advantage of the situation rather
than close or complain.

Does anyone have good examples (beyond scavenger hunts) of how to get event
goers to also check out brick and mortar stores? We are looking primarily
for ideas to pass on to businesses to implement themselves, but will
probably be adopting an activity that we will facilitate district-wide.

Here are some of the things we've seen done successfully so far:
- Our local shoe store rents a booth space in front of their store and
schedules a different vendor/salesperson to staff it each week.
- One of our restaurants does heavy promotions to their fan base about how
cool it stays in the place when it is sweltering outside. And they offer
pretty good drink specials!

I look forward to hearing what has worked in other districts!
