Hey all,
If you’re looking for some great traditional artists (folk and traditional) to perform, demonstrate, do workshops, etc., please check out our Oregon Culture Keepers Roster<https://ofn.uoregon.edu/roster/oregon_folk_artist_roster.php>. We’d love to see these folks get some gigs—near home or away.
And please know that we’re in the process of updating with culture keepers from our Willamette Valley Folklife Survey. We’re about to start our NW/Central Coast Survey, and we’ll be finishing up in 2020-21 with SW Oregon. For more on that project, see https://ofn.uoregon.edu/programs/statewide_folklife_survey.php.
Feel free to ask questions or for further information, and please let us know if you know of folk/traditional artists in your area who may not be on our radar.

Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Deadline to apply at the Performing Main Streeet and Transforming Downtown levels this Friday, March 1, 2019
This message is being sent over the OMS listserv. All responses will be over the listserv.
Oregon Main Street (OMS) is accepting applications from organizations interested in receiving downtown revitalization assistance at its Performing Main Street® and Transforming Downtown designation levels. Performing Main Street and Transforming Downtown applications are available by email at sheri.stuart at oregon.gov<mailto:sheri.stuart at oregon.gov> or by calling 503.986.0679. Completed applications must be received by March 1, 2019.
Applications for these two levels are only open once per year. Organizations at these levels receive access to the highest level of services and support available through the OMS Network. Successful applicants receive assistance to help revitalize the economy, appearance, and image of their traditional business district. Services vary from community to community, but generally include work plan and committee development along with specialized training and networking opportunities.
Visit https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/hcd/shpo/pages/mainstreet.aspx for more information on the Tier System, including eligibility and designation criteria for all four levels of assistance. The network also includes Exploring Downtown and Associate levels of participation.
Oregon Main Street is modeled on the National Main Street Center’s Main Street Approach®, which has been used in more than 2,000 cities nationwide. It emphasizes four critical areas of downtown revitalization: organization helps everyone work toward the same goals and maximizes involvement of public and private leaders within the community; promotion brings people back downtown by helping to attract visitors, shoppers, and investors; design enhances a district’s appearance and pedestrian amenities while preserving its historic features; and economic vitality stimulates business development and helps strengthen the district’s economic base.
Performing Main Street level communities include Albany, Alberta district (Portland), Astoria, Corvallis, Estacada, La Grande, McMinnville, Oregon City, Roseburg, and The Dalles. Current Transforming Downtown level communities include Bandon, Beaverton, Carlton, Coos Bay, Cottage Grove, Dallas, Dayton, Hillsboro, Klamath Falls, Lebanon, Milton-Freewater, Newberg, Pendleton, Port Orford, and Tillamook.
Oregon Main Street is part of Heritage Programs in Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
