[OMS_MANAGERS] speakers for OMS conference

I would like to see actual data that pertains to the benefits we see from improving downtown parking, beautification, and blight. Specific data that shows increases in property value or tax revenue for upper story residences, sales or visitors numbers that we can quote when we are trying to gain local support.

Even local data that shows sales potential after the hours of 6pm that we could show local retail shops to start staying open later.

Best,

We definitely would love the BID/EID conversation too.

I also want to say I love panel formats. It would be awesome to have panels on the parking discussion and maybe the public art program? I like how that format allows for multiple experiences to learn from.

Here are a couple of topics that will be coming up in our community in the next year or so that would be good to learn more about:
Two way streets vs. One way ( I would love to hear about freight delivery management and effects on small businesses in this situation)
Best Parking Management Practices for smaller towns ( 10,000-40,000 or so) Including downtown residential parking.
Downtown VRBO opportunities/success
Implementing a public art initiative
How to deal with blight and out of town property owners
Effective EID/BID/LID programs
Increasing walkability in a downtown

I am sure some of these have been covered in recent conferences, but it seems that you can never hear enough about it.
Thank you, Kendall

Hi Sheri,

I’d love to do a session! I also teach at WOU, and am always looking for ways to do workshops etc. I’m happy to chat about ideas for topics. Off-hand, there seems to be a never-ending need for anything related to marketing. I also think it’s really helpful to hear about programs communities/businesses can get connected to, like Travel Oregon etc.

Hi all,

If there are any speakers or session topics you would like us to consider for the Oregon Main Street conference please let us know. We are starting to work on the schedule so now is a great time to let us know your great ideas….or to offer to do a session as well!

Cheers,
