The National Main Street Center's Main Street Now Conference will be in Dallas, TX, May 18-20, 2020. The Main Street Now Conference is a one-of-a-kind event, providing attendees with an opportunity to convene and learn about the innovative methods and practices that make the Main Street Approach(tm) one of the most powerful economic development tools in the nation. Whether you hail from an urban business district, small rural downtown, or some place in between, you will find real solutions to common problems and techniques to help position your Main Street Program and your community to thrive. There are a few scholarship opportunities to consider:
1. Oregon Main Street Registration-Only Scholarship
We have registration-only scholarships available through Oregon Main Street for OMS Network members. Applications are due on December 16 - see attached application form. First priority is for communities participating in the Main Street Track (Performing Main Street, Transforming Downtown, and Exploring Downtown). You must be a member of the National Main Street Center to apply for this scholarship and then register for the conference at the early-bird rate by February 3, 2020. Registration for the conference will open December 4, 2019.
2. The Elisabeth Walton Potter Oregon Heritage Preservation Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance for Oregon residents to attend a heritage preservation-related conference, workshop, or training in the United States. Eligible travel expenses include registration fees, transportation, lodging, and meals. It is a competitive application process and scholarships will be offered to those actively involved in local preservation efforts and who demonstrate how attendance at a heritage preservation-related conference, workshop, or training will help meet the heritage preservation needs of their local community. Awards range from $500-$1,500, depending on applicant eligibility, priorities, criteria and the number of applicants. Applications that include some match are more competitive.
There are two rounds each year available. This round of scholarships is for events that occur between January 1, 2020-June 30, 2020. Deadline for applications is Nov. 22, 2019. For more information visit https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/FINASST/Pages/Scholarships.aspx. If you have questions about the scholarship or how to apply contact Katie Henry at Katie.Henry at oregon.gov or 503-986-0671.
3. In addition, The Ford Family Foundation has TA grants that allow use of the funds for staff members to attend a training or conference. In this instance, the TA application would fall under Community Economic Development.
