Celebrate Grant Recipients: The Neon Museum
Over 50 years, the National Trust has awarded nearly 8,000 grants to 5,000 organizations across the country. Today we want to celebrate a recent recipient: The Neon Museum, Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Neon Museum used a $5,000 grant from the National Trust Preservation Fund to conduct a building assessment of the La Concha Lobby. This 1961 building is an icon of the Las Vegas skyline and its significance lies in the hands of its architect, Paul R. Williams, the first African-American man to become a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Re-located from its original location on the Las Vegas Strip to its new home at the museum's Visitors Center, the La Concha Lobby acts as the Neon Museum Visitors Center and as such, receives and welcomes about 200,000 guests yearly.
