  1. Attached is a copy of the PPT from our webinar yesterday w/Stephen Hodges on creating an online presence. One of the key takeaways for me was the difference between closed source and open source solutions. Closed source are easy to use but not customizable. Good for retail, but not so good for service businesses. Examples are woo commerce, shopify, weebly, squarespace, strikingly, snap pages, wix, and jimdo. Open source is better if you want to be more interactive and the best platform according to Stephen is wordpress.com or wordpress.org (more technical) when used in combination with a web builder tool like divi.
  2. I also sat in on a webinar hosted by NAO with Kendall Clawson, CEO, Grantmakers of Oregon & SW Washington. She feels nonprofits will go three phases: dealing with emerging issues which we are in right now, this will move to what she calls the “bridge” phase where we will still need to keep an eye on issues but will also need to carve our space for planning, and then what she calls “Aftermath” which is continuing to move forward. One of her main words of advice was to keep focused on your mission – that shouldn’t change – it just amplifies the need to be clear on what you are doing and how you are impacted as you work with funding partners. She also shared info on a few foundations and how they are responding to COVID-19:
     * Oregon Community Foundation has collected $2.2 million already for the two funds created, one to support nonprofits and one to fill gaps for small business owners – they will continue to grow this fund
     * MRG has a community response fund for those disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Their focus is social, racial, economic, and environmental justice.
     * TFFF has contributed to the OCF fund but has also set aside $2 million for emergency funding and is being flexible with current recipients in use of funds for the activities.
     * PGE Foundation also has set aside funding to respond to COVID-19, most around education and food insecurity but some for small business assistance.
  3. And, one fun thing just because my birthday is coming up: https://playback.fm/birthday-song

  1. Updates added to Resource Guide (starting to date these in the footer so you can easily keep track of the most current)– Please let us know if you come across any great resources

  * SAIF created a $10million worker safety fund that will cover expenses to improve safety, health, and welfare of employees that employers incur due to the Coronavirus; must be a policy holder: https://youtu.be/q20LFooJNzg

  * Good Summary of CARES act from the National Trust Community Investment Corp – especially breaking down the new Payroll Protection Program, includes video links on their website: https://ntcic.com/news-blog/federal-stimulus-small-business-support/

  * Summary of legislation and the private options available so businesses can have cash-on-hand and relief during the COVID-19 pandemic by a small business owner, Jennifer Kem, Master Brand Institute (this was forwarded to me by Allison McKenzie formerly with Grow Santiam):
