Yes, you are correct in thinking that 501c3 are prohibited from supporting a political candidate. 501c3 organizations can advocate/lobby on behalf of issues that fall within their mission. Attached is a publication by the National Trust for Historic Preservation on this topic.

Hello Everyone,

I'm not sure if everyone saw this link (https://go.smallbusinessmajority.org/l/229072/2020-03-19/6z7mt) on the recent national main street email, but I wanted to reach out and see if anyone thought a non-profit shouldn't sign this support system. From my understanding, we are only limited in advocating for specific individuals, not necessarily general actions correct?
