  5. Mornings on Main Conversations:
     * Sustainable funding planning: many of our network organizations have been doing ok but without the revenue coming in from events and donor campaigns, it isn't looking good for the coming year. It's time for boards to think about new strategies or retooling existing strategies to generate funding for your organizations. We talked about different ideas like virtual live and silent auctions Click Here<https://mainstreetsiloam.org/mainevent2020/> to see an example from Siloam Springs (AR), starting Friends of Downtown campaigns, connecting with alumni that may have deep connections in your community even if they no longer live there, etc. Liz in Oregon City shared they are thinking of a speed dating (w/Plexiglas shields). Let's share ideas so we can ensure the sustainability of all our programs!
     * Art of Relevance - http://www.artofrelevance.org/ This is a link to Nina Simon's website with the free download of her book and a link on the website to her TED Talk. Nina talks about how to be welcoming not just by opening our doors to newcomers but to create new doors and meet people where they are at. It is well work the 15 minutes to watch the TED Talk and to share w/board members to prompt discussion on how your organization's function.
     * Halloween discussion: many communities are retooling their traditional activities. Woodburn is thinking through doing a car parade ending up in a lot where people can see and vote on decorated cars, Bandon is considering having 5 or 6 stations along the boardwalk, another is considering a home decoration/drive-by contest
     * Cool things happening around the Network:

                                          i. Oregon City has a small placemaking grant that they are using to hire artists for a chalk painting day w/3x5 foot scenes in front of businesses. A kid zone will be at the Plaza.

ii. Bandon is having a banner summer with people from the valley taking closer vacations

iii. Hillsboro has been struggling with so many ideas to help downtown. They reached out to high school students that have lost their extracurricular activities that help them prep for college. The high school students have been show a list of projects that have been on the back burner and can choose something they would like to do like interviews of tattoo artists, cleaning up a pollinator garden, GPS inventory of public areas, etc.

iv. Curbside Cravings are going really well for Lakeview. People are lining up in their cars for a chance to buy candy and popcorn at the Alger Theater which is helping raise the money they will need to pay expenses over the winter.

                                         v. Beaverton has been facing "Coronavirus Stress" with it showing up between businesses. So they are working on relational management including bringing people together and empowering businesses to share messaging to cut rumors at the start and managing the word that the public is hearing.

vi. Dayton's Band on the Run was successful w/nine bands touring nine zones in the back of trucks.

vii. Klamath Falls board members did a walk-about in teams of two to check-in with businesses, hear how they were doing, and to connect with resources

viii. Lebanon has scaled back music to ensure social distancing protocols are met at Strawberry Plaza but still active averaging around 40 people (capacity is 70)

ix. Several organizations were successful in applying for PPP including Astoria and Bandon among others.

                                         x. Willamina has created Willabucks with funds donated from larger businesses like lumber. The $10,000 raised is going to folks who have been hit hard in the community to spend in local businesses.

xi. Outdoor seating has been working in many communities like Beaverton
