[OMS_MANAGERS] Legislature Advocacy

Hi Kevin, thank you for keeping us all in the loop.
We had to shut down our Beaverton and portland locations The ship tavern
and Broadway saloon again this last week. this was heartbreaking as our
employees who live pay check to pay check were just beginning to get back
on their feet. we were operating at a small loss with the increased FTE
needs and reduced inside dining footprint, but it was a small loss that we
could absorb and keep our team employed which was nice with the help of the
March PPP.

Now that the money for that is gone, the restricted interior foot print of
these two locations doesn't allow us to do a great business and although we
tried takeout for over a week, the sales weren't even close to supporting
the FTE needed. I'm sure i'm speaking to the choir here.

up here in The Dalles I'm a bit better off as the community supports our
location a bit more and i'm able to be onsite while i work my day job.
this allows me to keep some of the employees on to subsidize their
unemployment with curbside takeout. it's not paying the overhead other
than FTE but i'm hoping on wednesday that the outside seating i have
available will help somewhat...

honestly i'm not sure cocktails to go will benefit us much but i'm willing
to try in The Dalles location but i wouldn't open either Broadway or The
Ship for takeout cocktails without some form of grant help.

Personally i think what all businesses need (if we are really talking about
a prolonged closure, ie more than a month) is another round of grant
funding that will take us through to re-open at normal levels. otherwise i
think that a lot of these businesses including ours in beaverton will be
closed forever.

that's my two cents. thanks for listening.

Todd
