[OMS_MANAGERS] All the best for a happy New Year

As I sit down to write this message this morning, I am filled with hope for the New Year. I have been reading the annual reports as they come in. While many acknowledge the challenges they have faced, the overriding tone is one of positivity about what has been accomplished. I am reading stories of how communities have come together to support downtown, local businesses, and each other. We have mourned both the community loss of a favorite business as well as the personal loss of beloved friends or family members, including for me the loss of my mother. Through all this, we have demonstrated amazing resiliency and creativity. In the face of business loss, we see new entrepreneurs choosing our downtowns as a place to set up shop. We see property owners choosing now as the time to invest in building improvements. We see local governments quickly approving uses of public spaces and deploying financial assistance in support of downtown businesses. We see events being re-imagined to follow safety guidelines while sharing the joy of our communities. We see barriers breaking down and new partnerships being formed. We see our Network coming together and sharing information, supporting each other, and lifting each of us up. We see our amazing executive directors giving so generously of their time and hearts on behalf of the community. My thanks to each and everyone of you for all the good you do and the difference you are making.
