Registration OPEN for 2020 Oregon Heritage Conference!
2020 Oregon Heritage Conference - Harness the Power of Heritage!
April 22-24
Corvallis
Register Here<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Pages/heritageconference.aspx>
Join us for three days of workshops, tours, sessions, keynotes, and conversations that help conference attendees realize the power of heritage and find ways to harness that power to engage with their communities!
Who should attend?
Heritage superheroes (yes, that means you!) working or volunteering in all areas of heritage preservation in Oregon including historic preservation, museums, historical societies, commissions, main streets, archaeology, historic cemeteries, and more. Whether you want to strengthen your organization, identify tools and resources for your efforts, engage with the community, advocate for support, or create new appreciation for Oregon heritage in its many forms, you will want to attend.
Conference highlights include:
* Two Keynote Speakers will inspire us with their stories, methods, and tools that emphasize the value of heritage:
* Barbara Minguez Garcia is a World Bank consultant on disaster risk management and cultural heritage, with a focus on the Resilient Cultural Heritage Program at the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery. She collaborated in the joint World Bank-UNESCO position paper on Culture in City Reconstruction and Recovery (CURE)<https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000265981>.
* Trina Michelle Robinson will share the story that she told when touring the country with The Moth Mainstage: her exploration of her family's enslaved ancestry, their liberation and migration to Chicago. Her mission is to help people of all backgrounds connect to one another through storytelling, with the hope we can see ourselves in each other. She will also discuss the research behind her story, how she has processed what she has learned through storytelling and her commitment to raising the voices of marginalized people everywhere.
* A pre-conference networking event focused on Latinx heritage preservation
* 3 workshops, 7 tours, 2 Keynotes, and 15 sessions providing tools, case studies, and inspiration for those doing heritage preservation work across the spectrum
* Inspiration from the 2020 Oregon Heritage Excellence Awards event!
* Film screening opportunity for "Samurai in the Oregon Sky" at the Whiteside Theater
* The Conference headquarters is in the brand-new, gorgeous Benton County Historical Society - Corvallis Museum in downtown Corvallis
