Hi Sheri,
Can you confirm that there are nominations for Best New Business, Best Promo Campaign, and Best Historic Preservation? Although, that’s the one we didn’t know if maybe it was better in best design program?? Feel free to move around if we nominated in the wrong category. We’re five years and over 100 tiles deep!
Thanks,
Sarah Lu

Hi All,
As mentioned yesterday, the Excellence in Downtown Revitalization Awards are O-P-E-N for nominations!
We think it’s a good time to think about the positives that have happened this year and the uplifting things that are happening during this current time of uncertainty. I 100% guarantee that you and your community have done an award nomination worthy project AND have an award nomination worthy person. So, don’t be shy, go ahead and brag about the awesome things you do!
Attached are the guidelines and categories for applying. The awards are open to communities in the “Main Street Track” which includes the Performing Main Street, Transforming Downtown, and Exploring Downtown tiers.
You need to fill out the survey every time for every category you wish to submit a nomination for. For example, if I had a nomination for fundraising event and a nomination for volunteer of the year, I would need to go through the survey and fill it out for the first category, hit submit, then go back and fill out the survey for the second nomination, then hit submit.
One really great award that yields a lot of benefits locally is the board member of the year and volunteer of the year. It is a great way to honor those folks in your community that have given a lot of time and energy to your organization. We recognize all of those nominated in this category at the event and with a certificate. Just a great way to say thank you to a very important stakeholder group.
Also, we suggest you forward this message to your entire board with the guidelines and categories attached so they can be involved in the process and feed you ideas or perhaps help you out by submitting nominations (in a planned and purposeful way with your coordination, of course).
Deadline is July 12, 2020.
Nomination Submission link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/omsawards2020
Questions? Feel free to email myself or Sheri.
Issue with the survey? Contact me and I will apologize profusely and try and figure out what inevitable issue there will be because these survey programs are complicated!! 😊
If you want some tips on how to make your nomination more compelling, get in touch with us and we can give you some tips and tricks.
Good luck and we look forward to seeing the nominations come through!
Best,
Katie
