Hi Sheri,
That's a great project! We got a COVID broadband grant to expand access for students in the local district, which reaches out into the unincorporated area. We expanded the capacity and range of public wifi in five locations, including the library, City Hall and Riverview Park which ends up covering much of the downtown. We also created 25 wifi zones throughout Independence and Monmouth targeting low income developments or areas. The wifi zones are only accessible with a student code but could be turned into open public wifi in the future.

Hi all - cool announcement from Prineville about adding free high speed wifi downtown with funding support from Facebook. Who already offers free wifi? Thanks, Sheri

Hi Sheri,
Not sure you saw this press out of Prineville on our Fiber project for free high speed wifi in Downtown Prineville.
https://ktvz.com/lifestyle/technology/2021/07/12/facebook-donates-225000-for-prineville-connected-free-public-wi-fi-project/#:~:text=PRINEVILLE%2C%20Ore.,internet%20connectivity%20across%20the%20city.
We were talking and I was looking into if there are other towns that offer any free high speed wifi like this anywhere in Oregon? I see that Eugene and Hillsboro have fiber to the downtown and offer a service to buy, I don’t see where it is free.
I was curious if you are aware?
Bryan Iverson
Thanks!
