[OMS_MANAGERS] Question NAICS code for mainstreet 501C3s?

I don’t want to get over the top nerd on everyone, but the North American Industrial Classification System is a hierarchical classification system that starts with two-digit groupings.  Sector 92 is Public Administration and “consists of establishments of federal, state, and local government agencies that administer, oversee, and manage public programs and have executive, legislative, or judicial authority over other institutions within a given area.”  Main Street groups are not likely to be in 921520 unless they are affiliated with or part of city government.

Section 81 is “Other Services (except Public Administration)” Establishments in this sector are primarily engaged in activities such as equipment and machinery repairing, promoting or administering religious activities, grantmaking, advocacy, and providing drycleaning and laundry services, personal care services, death care services, pet care services, photofinishing services, temporary parking services, and dating services.  Included in the list of types of organizations included in 813319 are “neighborhood development advocacy organizations.”  I would think that describes Main Street groups.

Haha, I went through this same thing a couple of months ago and thought, "should I ask my Main Street folks?" but figured you'd all think I was nerding out. I forgot, many of you are organizational nerds too.

I went back and forth between 925120<https://www.naics.com/naics-code-description/?code=925120> and 813319, and settled on the "Other Social Advocacy Orgs" since the former is primarily government agencies. Looks like the list comes up for review at the end of this year. Maybe National can convince them to add a Main Street/Downtown organization code.

One of those weird questions that comes up. What NAICS codes do main streets use for Grant Applications and things like SBA loans? I'm specifically interested in Main Streets that are 501C3s but would be interested in seeing other entities and what y'all are categorizing yourselves as.
