[OMS_MANAGERS] Wine walks/after dark events

Albany Rotary typically holds a Downtown Wine Walk the 1st Friday in May. It was canceled last year. I’m invited to attend a 2021 planning/brainstorming meeting next week. I’m interested to hear their plan and happy to share.

The 1st Friday in Historic Downtown Albany group has continued monthly throughout COVID with a mix of virtual and in-person open house type events. They moved to Facebook Live shop tours with staggered start times during the height of COVID. Most have moved back to in-person events. I expect all will in April The “event” is basically lots of individual open house events with the individual businesses following COVID guidelines for their category at the specific risk level.

There are Downtown fall events as well, Greater Albany Rotary will likely host their Craft Brew Smackdown in September. It is similar to Wine Walk, but is Beer and Spirits. Albany Boys & Girls Club is still working out how to do their Mid-Valley Brew Fest, it’s a 2-day event in a big tent.

Our two high schools are currently working on holding grad events in Downtown Albany. One is looking at an outdoor prom. The other a Grad Night street party. I expect to be in meetings with both groups in the next week or two.

Thank you,

Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Wine walks/after dark events

Hello everyone,

For those of you who typically hold wine walk/main street after dark type events, how have you navigated them during COVID? I know quite a few of them were cancelled, but wanted to see if anyone had found a way to do a pandemic-version of their typical event?

We are interested in planning something for later in the year, but obviously with things still as they are I wanted to see if there was any way to safely plan one. I haven't been to an event like this in the past either, so even if we aren't able to host one for a long time, I would love to see your event schedules or just get an idea for how they typically work!

Thank you in advance,

Lyndsey Dixon
