  1. Policy request If you host parades or street fairs with multiple vendors, do you have any policies in place regarding political statements? I had a request today for an example if any have policies you can share.

  1. Prep for OMS Revitalization Grant: Big thanks to Kuri for joining us on our weekly Mornings on Main call yesterday to share tips on getting prepared to apply for the OMS grant. Some of the highlights of the conversation are below - please feel free to add any additional takeaways if you attended the call!:
     * Assess your organizational capacity to manage the grant process from application to management to reporting beyond the end of the project - have at least two people familiar with the grant management process in case there is a staff/leadership turn-over during the grant cycle
     * Review any local downtown plans and your own organization's priorities; more competitive projects clearly align with your organization's priorities
     * Develop your process for selecting the project - while you aren't limited to one application, the likelihood of more than one grant per town being awarded is slim. So, it is better to focus on selecting the project that you feel best meets your local priorities and where the building owner is committed and ready (if some project planning is included in the grant request, you must really make a compelling case for the project in answering other questions and the importance of the project to your community)
     * Make sure the property owner is aware that projects must be consistent with the Secretary of Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties Standards<https://www.nps.gov/tps/standards.htm>
     * Review the prep guide for more tips! Click here for the guide<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Documents/PreppingOregonMainStreetRevitalizationGrant.pdf>

  1. T-Mobile Hometown Grant Program: T-Mobile has committed $25 million over a 5 year period to award grants up to $50,000 to 100 towns per year. Applications are open quarterly. We had three communities in Oregon who were recipients of the last round (Aumsville, Talent, and Toledo). The T-Mobile Hometown Grants program will help fund projects to build, rebuild, or refresh community spaces that help foster local connections in your town. For example, this might include the town square pavilion, a historic building, an outdoor park, a ball field, or a library-- every town has places where friends and neighbors connect. 1. American Small Business Saturday: The American Express Neighborhood Champion application for Small Business Saturday(r) opened on October 19! If you were a Neighborhood Champion last year, you are pre-approved this year and will automatically be approved when you complete a few fields and submit your application. By becoming a Neighborhood Champion, you will receive a kit of marketing merchandise to Promote Shop Small with complimentary totes, stickers, posters, and more.
