Funding Opportunities
1. America Walk's Community Change Grant now open. The Community Change Grant program supports the growing network of advocates, organizations, and agencies working to advance walkability. Grants are awarded to innovative, engaging, and inclusive programs and projects that create change and opportunity for walking and movement at the community level. Applications for grants open in the fall and are awarded for the full calendar year following. The number of grants awarded varies each year, depending on available funds. APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30th at 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific! Click Here<https://americawalks.org/programs/community-change-grants/> for more info
1. Independent We Stand's 6th Annual America's Main Streets Contest has started. You can now nominate your favorite Main Street or other small business group to receive $25,000! Click Here<https://mainstreetcontest.com/?mc_cid=698a20a968&mc_eid=87df2caca4> for more info.
1. Register to win a Main Street Makeover from Rokusek (parent company of Maestro). Click Here<https://www.maestrocm.com/main-street-makeover/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=sharpspring&sslid=M7GwMDcyMrO0NDIzBwA&sseid=MzIyNTCxMDE3tgQA&jobid=32a4eb19-25ad-4254-a9d6-ad9071b07033> to register - applications accepted through October 1, 2021. Rokusek is a full-service marketing firm that has a passion for historic downtowns and Main Street. In recognition of all that Main Streets have been through over the past two years, Rokusek is going to give away a Main Street Makeover tailored to your community. Rather than saying "we're giving away a new website, or new brand", they want you to tell them what you need and the impact it will have on your organization.
1. National Trust Preservation Funds Grants Now Open. Click Here<https://forum.savingplaces.org/build/funding/grant-seekers/preservation-funds?utm_medium=email&utm_source=update&utm_campaign=grants> for more info. Grants from National Trust Preservation Funds (NTPF) are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by supporting on-going preservation work and by providing seed money for preservation projects. These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for preservation projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector.
A small grant at the right time can go a long way and is often the catalyst that inspires a community to take action on a preservation project. Grants generally start at $2,500 and range up to $5,000. The selection process is very competitive.
The review process is generally completed within ten weeks of the application deadline, and applicants are notified via email once the review process is complete.
The next upcoming deadline for this program will be Friday, October 1, 2021.
1. The new donor guide, Increasing Your Main Street's Financial Stability: A Guide to Turning Supporters into Donors, is now available! We worked with Donna Harris, Heritage Consulting Inc., on a complete overhaul of our former "How to be successful in membership campaigns" guide from 2008. The attached guide will take you through the steps to put together a comprehensive strategy.
1. Just a reminder there are links to webinars we hosted on our website to help with ideas to enhance your funding base including an overview of funding sources for main street organizations, specific funding ideas, and ways to engage board members in fundraising. Check it out at www.oregonmainstreet.org<http://www.oregonmainstreet.org> and click on the orange portal button to navigate to recorded webinars.
