We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2022 Oregon Main Street Conference, Oct 5-7, in beautiful downtown Klamath Falls! Our conference co-host, the Klamath Falls Downtown Association has been working hard to make this a memorable event for all those who are passionate about their downtowns and their communities. We also appreciate the support of the City of Klamath Falls, Klamath County, and Discover Klamath. Information about the conference, lodging options, registration, add-on tours, and more can be found by Clicking Here<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Pages/omsconference.aspx>

The OMS conference is a great opportunity to re-evaluate your work and consider new opportunities for improving your historic downtown or traditional commercial neighborhood district. From the dynamic and engaging sessions and plenaries to the informal, energizing conversations had in-between, attendees leave with fresh ideas and renewed passion for the impactful work you are doing or inspired to get started.

Conference Highlights Include:

  * Opening Keynote: Mary Means is best known for leading the team that created the National Main Street Center. More than 1,600 towns and historic neighborhood corridors in 40+ states have successfully used the Main Street Approach to bring people back to their historic cores. Mary was a Loeb Fellow at Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her small but mighty planning firm has helped communities and other public interest organizations with strategic plans that achieve strong public support. Her work has been honored by the American Planning Association with its 2018 Planning Pioneer Award, and by the National Trust for Historic Preservation with the 2020 Crowninshield Award, the highest honor in historic preservation. Learn more at Means' website<http://marymeans.com/> (http://marymeans.com/<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http://marymeans.com/&data=05%7c01%7cRachel.THOMAS%40oprd.oregon.gov%7cbe4f305f35aa47c8556508da68f62888%7caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7c0%7c0%7c637937703685151149%7cUnknown%7cTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7c3000%7c%7c%7c&sdata=9fVc35HiEOXWoOT948EEKAf8e%2BP9tpVTqf%2BDWOVVbZI%3D&reserved=0> ). Mary is the author of Main Street's Comeback and How It Can Come Back Again, published in 2020.
  * Plenary & Deep Dive Workshop Speaker: Andrew Howard is internationally respected for his people focused design approach and rapid-implementation strategies that are being replicated around the world. Howard’s overarching goal is to equip new leaders to take action in their communities. Andrew will bring examples of how Better Block projects and other quick-build actions have revitalized communities from Sidney Australia to Bethel, Vermont. Be aware this keynote has led to people painting their own bike lanes, setting up pop-up shops and converting parking spaces to parklets. Before becoming a rabble rouser, Howard was a transportation planner at Kimley-Horn and Associates and the Houston-Galveston Area Council. He holds a Bachelor of Geography degree from Texas A&M University and is a Loeb Fellow of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
We are grateful to our sponsors for helping underwrite the conference:
