Oregon Main Street Conference: In a few short weeks we will gather to celebrate the people, places, and projects that make our Main Street communities thrive. Join your fellow Main Street executive directors, board members, and supporters as we celebrate the accomplishments of our colleagues in Klamath Falls' historic Ragland Theater during our Excellence on Main Award celebration at the 2022 Oregon Main Street conference. You can view the full schedule and session descriptions now on the conference website!<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.oregon.gov%2Foprd%2FOH%2FPages%2Fomsconference.aspx&data=05%7C01%7CSheri.STUART%40oprd.oregon.gov%7C1135c405ea3c4fb0be8308da7fb73e03%7Caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7C0%7C0%7C637962722243298736%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=XC8qH8i8ctMt90GqnuTTmq3Fw5MqpWED4PNuHbeOjAQ%3D&reserved=0>

Keynote Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, our keynote speaker, Mary Means, will be unable to join us. Jon Stover, with JS&A an Economic Development Consulting firm specializing in place-based economic development, will now kick-off our conference. JS&A has worked with Main Street America(tm) as well as local Main Streets and Coordinating Programs across the country in quantifying the impacts and value Main Streets bring to the economy and community. In this special presentation Jon will share the results of the recently complete Oregon Main Street Impact Analysis. The report highlights the success of the Oregon Main Street network through qualitative stories of how the network preserves, sustains, and enhances communities and the quantitative impacts this success has brought to the state's economy. In doing so, this report serves as a tool for both Oregon Main Street, local programs, and state partners to better communicate the many ways in which Main Streets generate value and play a pivotal role in your communities.

Just added: The conference will also feature the Oregon Main Street "Open Door" Pitch Contest: Our Oregon Main Street Network organizations help create inclusive and welcoming environments that make all feel that they belong and are invited into the community. We want to encourage and support these efforts! Do you have a project or idea on your work plan to make your downtown or organization more welcoming that you just haven't been able to move forward due to a lack of funding resources? Here's your opportunity to receive a $5,000 grant to implement your idea.

  * National Trust for Historic Preservation has several grant opportunities throughout the year. One of the programs, the National Trust Preservation Funds (NTPF) are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by supporting on-going preservation work and by providing seed money for preservation projects. These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for preservation projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector. A small grant at the right time can go a long way and is often the catalyst that inspires a community to take action on a preservation project. Grants generally start at $2,500 and range up to $5,000. There are three deadlines per year in February, June, and October. * Kinsman Foundation: One of their primary funding areas is historic preservation, specifically architectural preservation - the preservation, rehabilitation, restoration and reconstruction of historic buildings, structures and related sites. Most of the projects they fund involve buildings that are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, either individually or as a contributing resource in an historic district. They will consider grants for historic preservation activities other than architectural preservation as a secondary interest. Historic Preservation grants are budgeted for approximately 40% of their total grants. Applications for Historic Preservation grants over $5,000 must be submitted by August 1st of each year to qualify. These grants are decided in September and are scheduled for distribution in November. Inquiries for grants of less than $5,000 are processed throughout the year, and there is no application deadline. Small grant applications will generally require 6-8 weeks to review. * The Roundhouse Foundation: Their Small Grants program can support grassroots, innovative work and projects that may not have a need for a significant budget. Small grants also offer opportunities to explore and test new approaches and endeavors which can then be replicated for broader impact. For new partners, this is a great first-time grant program to consider as we get to know each other. Grant requests between $500 to $2,500. Who: 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities (including special districts) and Tribal governments serving rural Oregon, especially first-time partners.
Cycle: Reviewed at the beginning of each month, January through December. They also have an Open Call for proposals for projects in one of their funding priority areas.
