Hi Monica,

We are currently reworking our employee and board handbooks and we have language that will be included to cover social media, traditional media and public speaking. I’ll pull the language for you when it’s finalized.

Only the Executive Director and Board President can speak on behalf of the organization without prior authorization. We also don’t get “in the mud” on social media groups. Earlier this year, we had a major media issue both on Facebook and in the local newspaper and had to seek legal counsel.

On the lighter side, we have started documenting some basic policies & procedures on social media.

Facebook Guidelines

  *   Events
     *   Co-hosting
        *   Co-hosting is limited to events where ADA and another organization collaborate on the event
        *   We allow others to be added as co-hosts to ADA events if they are not partners.
        *   We do not “co-host” events hosted by a member or organization where ADA has no active involvement or organizational input
     *   Posting
        *   ADA events should be posted about 6 months in advance.
        *   In the past, we received some negative feedback on posting Christmas too early in the fall. We now post in July and make a “Christmas in July” reference which seems to have eliminated that negativity.
