[OMS_MANAGERS] Fire in downtown Hillsboro

Thank you all for the thoughts and kind words! It's been a long week
already, with over two dozen businesses affected and so many people wanting
to help!
As of right now, I think Fire is still fighting hot spots in the basement
where 100 years worth of wooden history was stored. I don't think the
investigators have been able to even start the physical investigation. And
when that's done the facade will need to be removed (unless it falls in the
meantime) before Main Street can be reopened up to foot and vehicle
traffic. We also have had an apartment fire (heater-caused) and three car
fires (arson) since Saturday, so...ugh.
But the businesses - they are all doing amazingly well considering the
situation. We will have the destroyed dress shop reopened in our pop-up
space so that they don't have to cancel the mini Quinceañera/Bridal show
they had scheduled for this Saturday. And the newish owner of our legacy
pharmacy is going to take the temporary relocation of their business as an
opportunity to remodel and upgrade the fountain kitchen and add an employee
restroom, in addition to other planned pharmacy upgrades.
We also have a huge, unrelated announcement being made at our City Council
meeting tomorrow night, that will be huge for us and a great surprise for
our businesses! So stay tuned!
Thanks to Lise for answering my call Sunday morning and sharing everything
she can dig up from the Novak fire! I will have some great lessons to share
in the upcoming months, but for now - it's never not a good time to make
sure all your contact info for businesses is as up to date as possible -
because the property owners may have that information literally go up in
flames and rely on your database to get ahold of their own tenants.
(Can this count as my quarterly report? 😜)
