Hi Stephanie,
My husband and I started Main Street Oregon in Warrenton four years ago in August.  With the help of Rural Development Initiatives assistance.
We had 14 people that had attended a public meeting held at a local church by RDI.  When we left the meeting, we had a committee of people interested in cleaning up our town of 6,000.  We had a lot of nuisance properties.  Our main goal was to clean them up/get rid of them.  With the collaboration of the city we have cleaned up 70 properties.  I'm going to send you a brochure to show you what we did and by reading between the lines you'll see how we approached it.  Since our original goal of cleaning up the town, the city has asked us to host events.  We have four a year that the city pays for but Spruce Up Warrenton hosts it.  This year the Astoria Regatta has asked us to host a picnic in the park, have games, and a movie, which we've agreed to do in August.  Our Fall Festival draws around 6500 people in attendance.  Our Easter Egg hunt had 620 kids ages 0-12 finding nearly 7000 eggs.
We now have 68 volunteers on our email list.  They don't attend meetings very well, but will work on a project or an event.
I resigned as Chairman a few months ago, but am still on the Board and an active member.  Age is catching up with my husband and I but working to improve our community has been one of the most rewarding experiences we've had.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Stephanie Wilson, I am the Main Street Manager for North Bend.  I know I got to meet some of you on last week’s zoom meeting, I also received some very nice welcome emails.  North Bend is new to the Main Street Program and did not have an existing downtown association prior. Therefore, I am starting from the ground up and in the beginning stages of forming my Main Street Board.  Aside from learning so much myself, I will also be helping educate the new Board as well.  North Bend has a population of about 10,000 people, with a small downtown district.  We have our Public Library, Historic Theatre, and some expanding businesses within our Main Street Boundary.  I am excited to be a part of the movement to help this coastal town grow.  I would love any advice or tips when working with a new board, and any advice you would consider helpful.  I know Sheri is on vacation, so I will be connecting with her soon. I wanted to officially introduce myself, and share how happy I am to be part of the Main Street family.
