The City of Albany process is easy and quick (2 weeks min). See an example form attached.

It is submitted to Albany Parks & Rec and routes to Police, Fire, Transportation and, if relevant, Albany Downtown Association, for approval.

If the highway is involved, there is more to deal with.  Only the Albany Veteran’s Parade closes the highway. I haven’t done that.

We haven't done one for a few years, but when we did here are the questions it included:

Are you a business owner, property owner or Hillsboro resident?
If you're a business owner, which events have shown an increase in sales for your business?
What are your thoughts on street closures?
Downtown Hillsboro has...
Are these the right types of events? Why or why not?
If you could only choose three of the below events to keep in Downtown, which would they be? (check three)
Of the following campaign strategies, which three would you like to see?
Do you have any other event or campaign ideas to share?
Are you interested in sitting on a committee to help identify Downtown's event & campaign strategy?
If yes or maybe, please list your name and contact info so we can follow up with you.


It was a Google form that I can't find, but I've attached the report, which has more details about the multiple choice questions for you to see.

Hi Elaina,

We have not done a survey, but here is our current process for special events and street closures (attached). This is city-wide, not just downtown. This is a new process for us, so our Association has not gone through the process, but the feedback from our Chamber has generally been positive.

It’s currently very time consuming application process and at the upper end you must submit 8 months in advance. We would like to get input from the downtown businesses. Has anyone done a survey recently on this type of subject?
