Erin, I think you nailed it here.

 

We are also working on DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and of course any
skillsets (Accounting, legal, marketing, etc.) that an induvial has
personally to bring to the org is always a plus which you noted. After we
vet them to this point, we invite them to a board meeting to see us in
"action". Also, not everyone is a great board candidate however can add
value at the committee level.

Does anyone have a Board of Director's Application form they are
particularly proud of? Something you use to have information from the
potential Board member that le's them say: "yes, I want to be on your board,
and here are all the things about me that will help the current board vote
me onto the board!"

Obvious questions are about professional background, other civic
involvement, 4point committee interest.

But I'm really looking for some good open ended questions that let an
applicant put down on paper something to get them thinking about how they
will make a meaningful contribution once on the board.

We are revising ours now, and happy to share back out the full packet and
original documents when we are done.
