Hello Main Streeters!
We may be wrapping up the year but that certainly does not mean that we've stopped looking ahead for next year. Knowing that everyone requested a little more in depth schedule of what Third Thursday speakers to expect, I wanted to provide that information for you so you can plan to share with others as is appropriate. This schedule shares from December's event through July of 2024.
Reminder!
December's guest presentation will occur on December 14th not December 21st. This is due to the Third Thursday falling too close to the holiday.
Who: Susan Bower, Department of Justice
Topic: Presentation on the legal channels to conduct fundraising through games of chance such as bingo, Monte Carlo, lotteries, auctions, etc. Susan is coming to share her perspective from DOJ to help organizations fundraise in a legal way.
2024 Schedule (through July)
January 18th
Who: Titus Tomlinson, Oregon RARE Program
Topic: Titus will join us to talk about what it means to participate in the RARE program including costs, eligibility, expectations and more. We will work collaboratively on looking for content to balance this presentation for organizations ineligible for RARE to have similar experiences.
February 15th
Who: Lise Grato & Albany's Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Association
Topic: Lise and her partners will talk about how to have positive relationships with the groups in your city that have similar audiences and parallel goals. How do you work together collaboratively while also staying in your lanes? This group will tackle those tough questions.
March 21st
Who: Marcia Hale, Volunteer Coordinator; Hillsboro Public Library
Topic: Engaging volunteers and preparing for atypical volunteer groups. Marcia will also touch upon ways to include your volunteers in your end of year giving campaigns and empowerment of volunteers as ambassadors. With over 25 years in volunteer coordination at both small nonprofits, government organizations, and large private entities, she's got a wide background of skillsets. Feel free to come with your questions!
April - No Third Thursday due to Heritage Conference
May 16th
Who: Susan Parsons, Nonprofit Association of Oregon
Topic: Susan will come to share the new version of the NAO resource library that features templates, documents, and references galore for operating nonprofits. Their new website will be fully operational and allow better indexed navigation for anyone seeking assistance from their materials. She will be joined by their membership coordinator, who will talk about the benefits of NAO membership and the resources, webinars, trainings, and other opportunities that come along with it.
June 20th
Who: Joy Sears, Restoration Specialist; Oregon SHPO
Topic: Working on and restoring historic storefronts; considerations, planning, and process associated with bringing these spaces and places back. Joy will share her many years of experience working on historic buildings' storefronts and what some successes and pitfalls might look like. Feel free to come with your questions & think about how this might apply for OMSRG applications in 2025.
July - No Third Thursday due to Network Meeting in person in Reedsport.
Hope this is helpful for folks when looking at planning for Third Thursday attendance and of course, if something changes you'll be informed!
Cheers,
