Travel Oregon 2023-2025 Competitive Grants Guidelines Available
Projects support Travel Oregon’s vision of ‘an Oregon that is a welcoming destination where tourism drives economic prosperity, benefits the natural environment and celebrates rich, diverse cultures.’
The 2023-2025 Competitive Grants Program<https://t.e2ma.net/click/hhg86l/pv851c/htlk1bd> is designed to address the following strategic priorities that are part of Travel Oregon’s 2023-2025 Biennial Plan<https://t.e2ma.net/click/hhg86l/pv851c/xlmk1bd>:
* Reduce high visitation pressures and increase community livability by investing in the development of niche tourism product that is based on growing visitor demand and Oregon’s competitive advantage (e.g., outdoor recreation, culinary, agritourism, arts and culture).
* Expand opportunities for residents and tourism stakeholders to actively engage and collaborate in destination management processes.
* Align and support communications across the tourism industry to improve visitor behaviors and experiences with timely information, responsible recreation practices and respect for all communities.
* Support the development of new and existing tourism-related facilities and products (e.g., visitor experiences, attractions, and public spaces) to better serve historically and currently underserved and under-resourced communities.
The Letter of Intent (LOI) form will be available at 8 a.m. on July 13 and will be accepted through August 18, 2023. The total funding available for this grant cycle is more than $3 million.

Oregon SHPO Invites Public Comment on the Draft 2024-2034 Oregon Historic Preservation Plan
The Oregon State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) invites public comment on the 2024-2034 Oregon Historic Preservation Plan beginning Monday, July 24, 2023, until 5 pm, Friday, August 25. The plan identifies statewide priorities for preserving Oregon's special traditions, collections, and places, and how to coordinate efforts among government agencies, non-profit organizations, and professionals across the state. A copy of the plan and webform for comments are on the agency website at https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/pages/tools.aspx. SHPO staff will consider all comments received to include in the plan's final draft, which the agency will publish in early 2024.
Oregon Heritage Bulletins get a new look!
If your organization is anything like ours, you have a very long to do list and some things can just hang out there for AWHILE. Well, we are happy to say that we were able to knock one of our “to do’s” off this list!
The Oregon Heritage Bulletins, resources that provide technical information and tips on topics of interest to organizations and individuals involved in heritage, have a fresh, new look! Not only did we change the look but we also made them accessible and easier to digest. During the process we made a few updates in some of the guidance that has changed over time and will continue to update them in the future as new technical assistance and tools are developed. It’s still a work in progress as we still have to update Heritage Bulletins related to historic cemeteries and archaeology but slowly but surely we will get it done! If it’s been awhile since you have seen the bulletins, check out the updated ones below.
