Digital Training - Open Office Hours This Week
* Thank you to all who were able to attend the digital training session last week with Josh Miller. Just as a reminder, he has two open office hours scheduled this week. Attached is the flyer with the dates & links for these sessions for your main street staff, board, or EV committee members. These initial sessions will introduce you to the resources that will be available for businesses in your community through January 2025 so you will be able to market this opportunity to your businesses. It will also give you some key points that can help your own organizations' online presence and use of everyday digital tools.
Kudos
* Together with American Express, the National Trust for Historic Preservation unveiled the 2024 Backing Historic Small Restaurants grant program recipients, including Cascade Locks Ale House, Cascade Locks, OR. This year, 50 extraordinary small restaurants across the United States will each receive a $50,000 grant. These funds will help them rejuvenate, innovate, and expand their businesses, ensuring their cherished legacies endure. The Backing Historic Small Restaurants grant program has granted $3 million to 75 historic restaurants (2021<https://savingplaces.org/connecting-food-history-and-place-by-backing-historic-small-restaurants>, 2022<https://savingplaces.org/american-express-backing-historic-small-restaurants-grants-recipients-2022>, 2023<https://savingplaces.org/american-express-backing-historic-small-restaurants-grants-recipients-2023>, 2024<https://savingplaces.org/american-express-and-national-trust-25-million-in-grant-funding-to-50-restaurants>) to help restaurants address critical needs amid ongoing economic challenges. By empowering these small businesses, each a treasure trove of stories and distinctive history, this program demonstrates that preservation can invigorate local economies while serving the communities they anchor.
