[OMS_MANAGERS] Volunteer Hour tracking app

My interns are accounting students from the high school. They are free. Most come during class time during spring. Another comes after school.

High school students in Albany need volunteer hours to graduate. I’ve had some others do weed clean up or other tasks if they prefer that to data gathering and entry.

I’m privileged to have staff too. We set up a generic maestro work plan called new business. We “clone” it for each new business so we make sure they are added to our website, maestro, and MailChimp systems, are invited to join committees, and learn about membership and parking, etc.

It is an amazing tool and I am finding myself not able to keep it up to date. I have reached out trying to find an intern and the professor at the college has pushed back telling me it’s not what interns want. So I have been building a list to see if we could have more of a description.

Lisa yes let’s bring Travis in and have a session on how to use it from ground up.

It has so many possibilities re info, keeping the board and volunteers on board, wayfinding, vacancies, building/business owners, strategic planning that your board and volunteers could have access to.

The challenge is populating all of the info and pieces as well as maintaining it so it remains current. I am almost certain I will need an intern to help do all of the pieces.

That said, the designers did a nice job putting together the tool that potentially puts in one place much of database an executive director really needs to do the job. The trick is populating and maintaining it.
