Oregon Main Street Conference - Registration Now Open
We're excited to bring the Oregon Main Street Conference to Albany, October 8-10, in collaboration with the Albany Downtown Association, the Albany Visitor's Association, and the City of Albany. We hosted our first conference in Albany in 2010 and look forward to sharing all the progress that has happened downtown since that time! Attendees at this fall's conference can look forward to engaging panels and speakers, walking tours featuring inspiring projects throughout downtown, our annual Excellence on Main Awards celebration, and networking opportunities with peers and partners. Take advantage of our early bird discounted rate of $115 through August 8. Visit our website<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/oh/pages/omsconference.aspx> for updates and additional information about the conference, including our schedule-at-a-glance, and lodging information.

Main Street America Updates:
Main Street Disaster and Crisis Recovery Support Survey
Main Street America needs your help. They want to learn more about how our Main Streets plan for and recover from natural disasters or other crises, such as cyberattacks or acts of vandalism. In partnership with the Main Street Leadership Council, they designed a disaster and crisis recovery support survey. Regardless of whether your Main Street has recently experienced a crisis or disaster your input is helpful. The survey is brief and will only take 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and responses will help them identify the most effective ways to deploy network support in critical times of need. Thank you for helping spread the word. Here's the link:

Funding & Support:
Technical Assistance & Professional Development Grants for Oregon Rural Arts, Culture, & Heritage Organizations: The Roundhouse Foundation is offering grants of up to $5,000 for professional development and technical assistance opportunities that strengthen the skills, talents, and capacity of partners in the nonprofit sector. We understand that while opportunities for skill development and strategic investments are valuable, they can often be difficult to pay for. The 2025 pilot program is designed to gather insights and improve future offerings.
ALIGNED PROJECTS MIGHT INCLUDE:

  * Paying for staff or board members to attend a conference or training
  * Hiring a consultant to develop a strategic plan
  * succession plan or fundraising plan
  * Purchasing a highly specialized piece of equipment or software specific to your work
  * Other creative approaches that build capacity through training and development
ELIGIBILITY: Through this program, we will prioritize our 2024 grant partners. In addition, we are especially interested in supporting opportunities from organizations whose missions align with the following initiatives:

  *   Journalism & Storytelling
  *   Arts, Culture & Heritage
  * Rural Fire & Emergency Services
  * Organizations whose missions are aligned with the above initiatives do not have to be previous grant partners.
All applications should align with Roundhouse Foundation's mission, eligibility and serve rural and Indigenous communities in Oregon.
WHY ARTS, CULTURE, & HERITAGE?: Arts and culture bring people together, expand hearts and minds and build vibrant communities. They cultivate, enhance and sustain a sense of community by helping people understand and respect who they are, who their neighbors are and the unique place they call home. Arts and culture also support the creative economy, providing important economic impact in rural communities. We look for opportunities that harness the power and potential of arts and culture to build better rural citizens, communities and economies. We want to hear and amplify the voices of our rural communities, which we know can often be best heard and shared through art. In fall 2024, the Oregon Heritage Commission released the 2024 Oregon Heritage Vitality Study Report identifying the top issues impacting the operational vitality of Oregon's heritage organizations and proposing recommendations to support the health of the heritage sector. One identified area of need was technical assistance for arts, culture & heritage organizations, including regional art centers, libraries, historical museums, and historically-designated sites.

Attached is a one-pager template developed by Louisiana Main Street in cooperation with other Coordinating Program staff as well as insights from Matt Wagner and Gustavo Ustariz at Main Street America. It offers best practices for when downtown restaurants complain about food trucks. Link to Canva template<https://url.usb.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/B4McCYVJKQCp3Y3HVsMsxtFLb?domain=canva.com>

Note: it's "view only" permission. Select File > Make a copy to duplicate the design into your own Canva account. Then you can add your logo and customize the colors.

The attached the template is a PDF for reference. Also, the template references a study; here is the link to it: ij.org/report/food-truck-truth/ <https://ij.org/report/food-truck-truth/%C2%A0>
