Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Thoughts on a Friday afternoon

Hi all,

I know the week started out a bit rough with the notice from Canyonville regarding their receipt of the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant. I was so proud of those who stepped in sharing words of encouragement and advice. Thank you to our awesome Network for pulling together! It is important to acknowledge all the work that you all do in bringing resources to the community, such as the OMSRG. We hear over and over from businesses how incredibly important this support is to them to help them be successful in the long run and therefore help your downtowns and your community be stronger. All of us in Main Street know how much local businesses give back to the community in terms of sponsorships and other ways they are involved. It helps the entire community when these local businesses are successful. So, as we close out the week, be proud of the work you do and continue to share and support each other.

Here’s just a few more examples of positive press coverage and the impact of the OMS grant:

Dallas Downtown Association<https://www.polkio.com/news/dda-awarded-265-000-oregon-main-street-revitalization-grant/article_3021b9b4-3f10-42aa-9bcb-cc0374aadc30.html>

North Bend Main Street<https://theworldlink.com/news/north-bend-main-street-announces-huge-grant-for-businesses-at-summer-kick-off/article_d0c70a4c-2c03-4c12-a8ea-33bf245f6d0c.html> – also includes a very cool community engagement event

Projects in Douglas County<https://www.nrtoday.com/news/three-douglas-county-cities-receive-grants-to-improve-downtowns/article_bd5b3cdf-f764-4961-8f27-448f48b35b34.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=email&utm_campaign=user-share> – covers projects in Sutherlin, Canyonville, and Reedsport

And, here’s some fun “best of lists” from World Atlas’ Lists of the 14 Prettiest Small Towns in Oregon<https://www.worldatlas.com/cities/14-prettiest-small-towns-in-oregon.html>; Most Underrated<https://www.worldatlas.com/cities/2025-s-most-underrated-towns-in-oregon.html>, 9 Friendliest Little Towns<https://www.worldatlas.com/cities/the-9-friendliest-little-towns-in-oregon.html>, 9 Coziest Towns<https://www.worldatlas.com/destination/9-coziest-oregon-towns-to-visit-in-2025.html>, 9 Towns That Feel Like Home<https://www.worldatlas.com/cities/these-9-towns-in-oregon-feel-like-home.html>, which includes OMS Network members in one or more categories – maybe inspiring you to do a road trip to experience these amazing places:

  * Accredited Main Street: Astoria, Bandon, McMinnville
  * Designated Main Street: Baker City, Coos Bay, Pendleton
  * Affiliated Main Street: Cottage Grove, Mosier, Port Orford
  * Connected Communities: Florence, Jacksonville, Lincoln City, Newport, Rockaway Beach, Silverton, Sisters
  * Wallowa County Chamber RRMS: Joseph

Cheers, Sheri
