Hello Krystal,
While our population is larger, one of our local business owners and board
members successfully hosts our Small Business Saturday event. She
coordinates with participating businesses, and for every $10 spent at these
businesses, customers receive a raffle ticket. These tickets are then
collected for a drawing to win a collection of items donated by the
participating businesses. Our Downtown Association also contributes a
"night on the town" prize, which includes $100 for a restaurant and $100
for a retail business of the winner's choice. Additionally, our local
theater donates a pair of tickets.
I've also learned about "Pink Friday," a nationwide movement that takes
place the Friday before the Thanksgiving holiday to encourage small
business shopping before Black Friday. We haven't participated in this yet,
but it's something we're considering for the future. It offers the benefit
of being listed on a national map through The Boutique Hub, which could
help promote your event and attract more visitors to your area. You can
find more information here: [
