If there is enough lead time and a desire to be more strategic about their exit strategy, there are a few good consultants who specialize in small business succession planning, Stephanie Anderson Stroup with Uphill Edge Consulting is one that comes to mind.  Your local SBDC probably has some good resources for building an exit strategy as well.

I actually think succession planning is a good Main Street training/workshop opportunity for most Mainstreet programs to consider hosting periodically.

Hey OMS folks,
In Baker we have several business owners who are looking to retire this year and are looking to put their businesses up for sale. My question for y'all is how and where have you seen business owners advertise their business successfully?

For our business owners who have a lease and/or own their building, they can list with a realtor. But where else has advertising a business resulted in a successful sale?
