Interesting question Jerrimi, I would like to hear the feedback on this one as well as we have just this summer established our committees and this would be a great time for us to establish that here too.

Hi all,

I am seeking some thoughts on how you engage your committees and to what extent they are responsible for project completion. This question is posed because of the database that we received from Oregon Main Street. I have pulled all of the information I can from the assessors records but am lacking complete contact information for all of our downtown businesses.

Part of me believes that gathering this information seems appropriate for our Economic Restructuring committee as the information gathered will primarily be used to improve our outreach and communication to the shops. However, the other part of me believes that sending a volunteer into stores will not garner the type of program credibility that we’re aiming to achieve, and may ultimately slow the project down.

So the short and dirty version of my question is this: Do you treat your committees more as consultants, a representation of the whole community, or do they act as your primary project heads?

Feel free to respond to just me if you have any thoughts.

Thanks for your time.
