<p class="MsoNormal">The Travel Oregon Competitive Grants Program makes awards available to eligible applicants for projects that contribute to the development and improvement of local communities throughout the state. These projects support Travel Oregon’s
 mission of ‘a better life for Oregonians through strong, sustainable local economies.’  To be eligible for funding, projects must be for tourism purposes and demonstrate a direct tie to the mission of Travel Oregon.

<p class="MsoNormal">USDA’s Rural Housing Service has set a July 25<sup>th</sup> deadline for qualified intermediary organizations to apply for
<a href="https://www.usda.gov/media/press-releases/2017/05/26/usda-seeks-applications-community-development-grants">
Rural Community Development Initiative</a> funding through which they will “provide technical assistance and training to help nonprofit organizations and communities develop their capacity to undertake housing, community facilities or economic development projects.” 
 Applicants must have “capacity-building experience” for the projects in which they will be involved and must provide matching funds “at least equal to” the amount of their grants.  Grants awarded under the competition will range from $50,000 to $500,000 and
 activities can include “homeownership education, minority business entrepreneurship, strategic community planning or assistance to access alternative funding sources<b><i>.

<p class="MsoNormal">USDA’s Rural Housing Services has set a July 24<sup>th</sup> deadline local governments, non-profit organizations & Federally-recognized Tribes to apply for
<a href="https://www.usda.gov/media/press-releases/2017/05/24/usda-seeks-applications-grants-support-development-rural-community">
Community Facilities Technical Assistance Grants</a> of up to $150,000 each.  Authorized under the 2014 Farm Bill, the grants enable rural communities to hire specialized personnel, pay for feasibility studies, retain consultants to prepare financial assistance
 applications and identify and plan for long-term community facilities needs and, specifically, to prepare applications for USDA Community Facilities loans & grants.  “Too often, rural community organizations lack the technical expertise they need to access
 federal dollars,” said USDA Secretary Perdue.  The technical assistance promotes “Increased access to federal funding will help build essential community facilities, and will allow rural areas to thrive.”<o:p></o:p></p>
