This year we installed a pipe that is 10 inches wide and a couple feet deep in the ground. We hope it will keep the very large tree in place. Bandon used to do this and we anchored it in a large and deep hole at our visitor center. After going through the hassle of finding and cutting down and hauling in large trees year after year, GBA started a campaign to raise money to purchase a live tree.</div>

We agreed to put up $800 if twelve investors from the community put up $200 apiece, that is tripled our commitment. With that we found a tree farm in Gresham that delivered the tree to us in Bandon.</div>

It was a major win for us and the community as a significant minority had questioned the waste of cutting down very mature trees for what mounted to a four week celebration.</div>
