We have a mature Junior Main Street initiative, it's now entering it's 6th year of existence. However, it looks like we took a very different approach that you are currently. We work with a teacher at the high school who has an AP government class, and she
has made their civic engagement projects a part of their curriculum more or less. It didn't start this way though - the key to success with our program (I believe) is that we tap into the students in their setting. I go to the classroom, they get the work
done. <span style="background:yellow">They pick projects</span> that the entire class can work on together and have until the end of the school year to complete. <br>
<br>
^ That is the other thing - THEY pick their project (not without guidance).<br>
<br>
Since today's teens are over scheduled and overworked, I found that trying to get them engaged with us on our turf outside of school hours was a losing battle. <br>

We have also added a non-voting student position to our Board of Directors and the first person to hold that position actually moved on to become a voting member. So now we have one high school student in the non-voting seat, and a college sophomore who is
going to Princeton as a voting member. <br>
