Information

This message is to introduce a new LRU staff member and update our LRU
Contract Administration and Bargaining Assignments lists that are
attached.  

First, LRU introduces Mary Kearney.  She will join DAS/HRSD, LRU on
January 25, 2010. Mary is transitioning to us from the Portland Public
Schools where she is serving as Director, Labor Relations.  

Mary's experience spans approximately 24 years negotiating multiple
contracts as chief negotiator and providing contract administration
including, grievance investigations, arbitrating, training and other
relevant responsibilities that will be beneficial to providing labor
relations services.      Prior experience includes being the Director of
Labor Relations for the following employers -- Allina Hospitals &
Clinics Minneapolis, Minnesota, Duluth Public Schools (Duluth,
Minnesota), Portland Public Schools (2001-2002), and City of Saint Paul,
Minnesota.  She was also a partner working part time consulting with
Potomac Consulting where she focused on union-management relationships,
organizational change, systematizing conflict management mechanisms.
Before accepting the Portland Public Schools Mary worked for Minneapolis
School Employees Association as Executive Director.  She has a BA from
University of Portland and JD from Hamline University School of Law, St
Paul Minnesota.  Pending Mary's arrival, agencies who are assigned to

LRU Contract Administration and Bargaining Assignments are updated.  In
our budget cuts, we lost one LRU position.  The changes recognize
adjustments needed due to the reduction of the one position and
replacement by Mary for Michael Halpern who retired. You will notice an
LR Manager may be identified as secondary to accommodate high workload
demands, transitioning or providing emergency assistance in the absence
of the primary staff.  Each staff receiving a new assignment will be
contacting affected HR Directors to schedule introductory meetings.  We
strive to provide you with excellent customer service, so let us know
how we can help you with day-to-day labor relations administration.  

The assignment changes are immediate please begin to contact the
assigned LR Manager, except for Mary as mentioned above, for your labor
relations needs.

agency's staff!
