Hello --

This is my first time to post to this list. I am trying to determine what
happened to a man by the name of BASIL B. DAIRY (Deary, Derry). He was born
in the winter of 1851/52 in Jackson County, OR. His mother died when he was
a few months old from an injury sustained in falling off a horse. His
father, PHILIP DEARY (Dairy) died in 1853 in Marion Co., OR. The 3 orphaned
children were separated.

Little BASIL (Basel) was raised the WILLIAM and JANE WRIGHT. After they died
in the 1880's, he went to Owyhee County, ID to stay with his older brother,
JACOB DEARY (who had been raised by TOWNER SAVAGE in OR). JACOB died in
1898 and BASIL is still with the widow and her children in the 1900 Census.
He is listed as a single man.

In 1916 he applies for a land patent in the Vale Land Office in OR for 160
acres (Desert Land Act) in Malheur County (Willamette Meridian). From this
point on, I have been unable to determine what happened to him.

Did he ever get married? When did he die? Where did he die?

Thanks for any breakthrough information that might be available out there in
Oregon!
