Hi
I just received my dad's certificate. It holds a bit of a puzzle and I hope 
someone out there can help.  My dad died in 1967 in Portland.  I was informed 
that he died in the VA hospital where he had been patient most of my life.  
He had been severely wounded on Normandy in WWII, and drank and had TB.  He 
and mama were divorced before I was 3.   Anyway...about a month ago I located 
a living cousin, and she told me that my dad had died alone in a "flop house" 
in the Burnside area of Portland.   Now I lived in Portland as a kid and I 
know where she meant.  I felt so sad about all this...so called the Portland 
police, medical examiner etc to see if it was true.  If for no other reason 
that I want the truth....the whole truth....even if I don't like it.   The 
death cert. came to day and it says he died at White House Nursing Home then 
in the address area it says 1212 SW4th .  I would like to know if anyone 
could find a Portland directory from 1967 and see if the nursing home matches 
the address....or are they different?   This cousin has unsettled me...I 
believe her personality is one to provoke an emotion and then step back and 
watch people play with it....if so..this was mean.....but if it is the 
truth...then I want to research and document it correctly for my kids and my 
dad's grandchildren.
