MessageWe were married in Sept of 49, lived just north of Tony's Fish Market that winter, the ice on our bedroom window was so thick you couldn't see through it. Pinched the pennies and kept the bedroom door shut so we wouldn't have to pay the heat bill to keep it warm......3 below zero in Oregon City on New Years day with almost a foot of snow........there was ice on the sidewalks even into the middle of February.

Brrrrrrrrrr

Thanks for the memory
Jacqueline

Sure do! That was the year we moved to Flagstaff, Arizona (in August), and my folks were certainly grateful!

You might recall the winter of '49/50. It started with
the wind that blew a car carrier off the Columbia
River highway, snowed at Thanksgiving and on the
following mid Jan was 8 above in Portland and 3 above in Seattle with another Alaska storm about to hit.

We hit snow to Redding, and Ice down to the
Cartinez straits just out of Martinez CA. that
    January.

, also, am still here. just sitting in the sun way down here in sun city,
az. what a change from portland although way too cool at nights here in the
desert. down to about 35 last nite and about 60 today with a warming trend
coming in a day or two which will boost us up to about 75. pretty good for

        >I for one am still here. I enjoyed the stories about Oregon and when you
guys didn't get involved in old cars I learned a lot.
