Kevin,

The 1880 Soundex is great if there is someone in the household under the age
of 10.  However, since the soundex was done for Social Security. [People
trying to prove they were old enough to draw benefits] it did NOT include
households that did not have anyone under 10.

I recommend using both.  The on line is a first choice only because it is
convenient and includes households that do not have children.  If the family
is not found this way then, most certainly, order in the soundex reel.

If you are ordering the soundex reel, it is best to have the computer figure
the soundex code for the name you want.  What with double letters, sound
alikes, and other rules, doing it by hand can get tricky.
