There was an interesting article in the Oregonian 17 Dec 2003 in the
Science section, pg E12 & E11, a historical retrospective of 'Winter in
Portland: From wild to mild'. Unfortunately, the graphics that were
included in the newspaper are not in the above reference -- various
photos of historic snowstorms and freezes and a bar graph of snowfall
since 1871. It is quite interesting and entertaining. A local library
possibly has a copy if you recycle promptly or do not subscribe.
