Alan French was the brother in law of Allen Reynolds. Both
men married Gibson women. Allen Reyolds was my gr gr.
grandfather. The French couple adotped the Kieft twins
Dolly and Molly of the book by the late Marjorie Hayes,
"The Land that Kept its Promise." They too were from
Hennepin Co., MN., and as far as I can tell arrived in the
Alsea area to stay with the Reynolds in about 1885.
My gg grd father Shepard Barnes was in Bayview area early
on, since he had property there he gave in 1898 to his nephew and to my ggf who came in 1896. Have not been able to find grant deed to him, but did find his grantee deeds
to them.
It is amazing how many of my family were in, about, or
passed through the bayview area 1893-1926.
Elbridge S. Barnes, James W. Barnes, John Calvin Barnes, Shepard B. Barnes, Elmer Briggs, Alan French, Allen Reynolds, Albert Reynolds, William Reynolds, Josiah Cameron Reynolds, George W. Prescott, Piere Prescott, Oscar Peterson, William Strake, William Tullock, Shepard Blanchard Tullock, Prince Lwellyn Tullock, and of course the Twombly family related to the Prescott family.
George & Pierre Prescott were the sons of Melissa Farnsworth Barnes and George Rufus Prescott. William
Tullock was Melissa's 2nd husband. George helped build
the two local light houses. Pierre was married to the
Twombly girl in Bayview.
Everybody in my family thought Beaverton in Was. Co., was
the interesting spot, but Bayview was were the action was
to be found.
Anything you can find on these will make me interested in
your CD.

Gene, I'll do a search and get back to you. I think French for sure. Connie

Passages from my Oregon eBook:
"In 1910, 15 more people joined Lincoln Grange: Ambrose Cook, J. A. Coovert, John Ross Coovert (1880-1929), Hattie Phelps Coovert Edwards (1891-1944), the wife of Clarence Edwards (1890-1909), Newton L. Guilliams (1866-1932), C. C. Gwynn, Helga Holmgren, Merle C. Jones (1910-1979), Edith McKensey, Henry McKensey, James F. Roberts, Conrad Thompson, L. T. Thompson, Guy Twombly, and Herbert Twombly."
"Horrey Woods and George Ryan played the violin, as did many others. Herman Webber played piano, and Neta Phelps was very good to play long hours on the piano. Frank Gatens called many of the square dances. Guy Twombly could call a dance when things were dull. The most fascinating dancer Florence Payne Howell could remember was an elderly woman who really danced with glee! Howell thought the dances were a bit noisy, but after she learned all of them she really loved them."
"In 1922, Herbert Hassman was the only new person to join Lincoln Grange, but 1923 saw six new members: Laverna Payne Bell, Elmer Cook, Fred Cook, Wilbur Collins (?-1942), Reynolds W. Ohmart, and Benjamin Twombly."
"In 1966, five Lincoln Grange members were still living when this report was written in 1966: Lena Hewitt-Hurt, Gertrude Phelps-Inglehart of Salem, Fred McWillis of Monument, Chester L. Ryan of Waldport, and Dexter Twombly, Vernonia."

Connie,Thank you for your note on the Twomblys. Jennie is my mother. Since she died we have put a new stone at the Fern Ridge Cemetery at Seal Rocks. The book you speak of, is this one you wrote or not. Sounds like I should have a copy. LillianLSchiendel at aol.com
