Hi Anne, I have been away from the genealogy for over a year. It got so everytime I tried turned on this machine there would be over 100 messages of garbage. It was no fun anymore.

No, I do not have anything on the Peterson's. When I was young there was quite a few in the Waldport area. One was a farmer that had a bull.........we had a cow, so I walked behind the cow on the way to visit the bull. I knew more about the bull then the farmer!!!

All I have is Lenore marrying Oscar Nov 11, 1899. Oscar born November 25, 1870. They had two children: Oscar LaVerne Peterson b 12-13-1900; Rose Lenore Peterson b 12-23-1910.

Do not remember reading what happened to Oscar. Lenore is buried with Frederick down at the Yachats Cemetery, up on the hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Lenore died in Coos County, Oregon. I believe these people moved to where ever there was work.

Sorry I do not have more to help.........Gail

    To Don and Ann Conner:

Nora m. Oscar William Peterson, 11 Jul 1899, but I do not
know when he died but it was before 1914. She m. Frederick William Strake on 4 Oct 1914. He survived her
    by several years.

    Dear Connie:

Nora Lenore Reynolds Peterson Strake, was the
surviving daughter of my great uncle Albert Reynolds, and his wife Charity Alice McKenney/
McKinney. She was born in Hennpin Co. Mn,
and came to Alsea with her parents in 1883.
Her father was a fiddle player and also played
at the dances in the area. The family survived,
as did many others, when they discovered black
sand on the beach - Gold. Nora was also one
of the only women to sail the Alsea Bay alone.

    Thanks for the information.

"Nice (Lincoln County) post office, formerly Lutgens, was established April 24, 1917. The office was discontinued November 15, 1919. It was named for Captain Henry “Harry” Nice (1837-1921), a prominent Alsea Bay resident during the last half of the 19th Century. Nora L. Strake was the first postmaster."
