A note on older Willamette Valley maps, especially, and older maps in
general -- in my immediate local area (T3S R1E WM) maps from the 1920's
are, at first glance, so different than where I live, it looks well, it
looks just like it does, its just that all the roads have been moved and
most of their names have been changed, ie, New Era used to be Leland and
it has had major realignment. In 1934, our current location was miles
from Leland road, but now Leland goes right past our house ...  rivers
can move, mountains can explode, etc.
